I’m running for State Senate in the Republican primary because I have a passion for service - community involvement is what I do.
My family first settled in Reno in 1914 making me a third-generation Reno resident. My wife, Dana, and I have been married for 34 years and are the proud parents to three beautiful daughters who all live and work right here in Nevada. Their careers are in law enforcement, healthcare, and electric vehicle technology.
I’m running because I care deeply about the future of our city and state. My goal is to make Nevada the best place in America to raise a family by increasing quality-of-life and decreasing the cost it takes to afford it.
I have been a volunteer community leader my entire life. As I near retirement, running to serve the constituents of District 15 is the next step in that community service.
I have extensive experience in volunteer leadership roles serving as the original Sierra Nevada Community Aquatics nonprofit president to get the new Moana pool built, Chairman and Commissioner of City of Reno Parks & Recreation, Caughlin Ranch HOA, City of Reno Neighborhood Advisory Board, Nevada Interscholastic Athletic Association, Reno Area Triathletes, Ironman Lake Tahoe, and have volunteered with the Washoe County School District for the past 18 years.
I have a degree from the University of Nevada-Reno (Go Pack!) and Truckee Meadows Community College and my professional affiliations include member of the Builders Association of Northern Nevada and Associated General Contractors for over twenty years, the Prospectors' Club, and Reno Elks Lodge. I started with Sierra Pacific Power Co. back in 1985 and am retiring after 39 years working in the energy industry to serve the constituents of District 15 in the Nevada Legislature.
I love living in the Reno area and there is no better place to call home.
I am running for State Senate District 15 because I have proven that I truly care what happens in our community. If you’re tired of politics - then I’m your guy; I’m just running to get to work for you.
I humbly ask for your support and your vote. See you on the trail.
- Mike

Governor Joe Lombardo has been rebuilding our economy and middle class and needs support in Carson City. Under his leadership, and in just a little over one year, we have seen our economy rebound with diversified growth. I want to continue to see our state prosper with job creators and a competitive workforce and that means continuing to support the Governor's Nevada Way.
Our children are our future, and their education is setting the foundation for their success. We must celebrate and support the heroes in our education system and offer competitive compensation to retain and attract new exceptional educators and support staff. Not only have I personally met some of these heroes but my mom was one - a Washoe Educator for 35 years. I believe we should continue to develop dynamic pathways for our youth to attain elite national programs, higher education, trades, and the workforce. My goal is for our grandkids to be able to go to school, enjoy a fulfilling career, and also have a family here in the Silver State.
Health & Wellness are critical for thriving prosperous communities - and for all ages! Sports, fitness, classes, recreation, artistic expression, and more keep our city vibrant and healthy. Governor Lombardo has an extensive Health & Wellness policy program that I strongly support. I support policies to incentivize Nevadans and Nevada graduates in healthcare to stay and provide care here. We must also take particular care of our Veterans, Seniors, and those with needs.
In Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, safety and security are just above physiological needs such as air and water. But I don't want our communities to survive, I want us to thrive! This means strongly supporting our law enforcement, fire fighters, paramedics, social workers, mental health counselors, and so many others who serve our communities. As a parent and grandparent, I am particularly concerned with dangerous drugs making their way onto our streets. I will always support policies that prioritize the safety of you and your family.
